So since Im putting my M38a1 back together finally, I opened up the NOS Heater kit I got a few years back from Midwest when he had them.
It came with a new thermostat, among other things, that is very strange looking. I got my m38a1 from the CAP, who had abandoned it for years of neglect, who got it from the Army. The thermostat that was in it was the old bellows type and it still worked, however I replaced it during the rebuild of the jeep. The thermostat that came with the heater kit has a spring with a lever that opens up flaps. Really a neat design that Ive never seen before, and seems more complicated than it needs to be.
Any way, I imagine that its a much lower temp setting thermostat than the one I have installed so Im not going to use it. Im also not going to use the grill blanket that came in the kit, just because I dont really need it, and dont want to drill a ton of holes in my grill for all the wire footman loops that hold the cover on.
