First post of probably hundreds. I just went on a mid life crisis style buying spree of jeeps and jeep parts. I am now in the position to pick at least one as a keeper and sell the rest of the stuff and jeeps. I have 1 MB that has the data plates on the glove box and has had many mods. It came with it's oringinal drive train and at least two spare L134's, several transfer cases, a couple T90's a T84 case, 3 radiators (unknown kind) and just miriad of stuff. I also have a CJ2A with the data plates on the firewall and the frame tip, it is in running and stopping condition. It's body while rusty is in fair shape for it's age. The MB is in pretty rough shape. I also have a CJ2A frame with tag in mint condition. The MB has what appears to be a V-6 Dauntless in it right now and a front and rear winch. I am well versed in body resto. work, Don't like it, but know it very well. I am also very mechanical. What I am looking for is what is the best jeep to keep for my farm? Is there more inherant value to an MB? BTW, The MB is a '43 the CJ2A that is in running shape is a '46 with original mill and the frame is a '48. I'm looking to make some money back and wind up with a nice jeep for tooling around the farm Right now I am leaning to keeping the MB and fixing up the '46 and piecing together the '48 Sell both CJ2A's and all the extra parts. I figured since there are folks on here that have probably been in the same boat I'd ask. Not to mention being new and ZI start asking tech. questions about half a dozen motors, body panels, etc. You know where I'm coming from.
Since the MB is very tricked out with a V6 and dual winches it will very likely cost significantly more money to restore the MB then it would to restor the 46 2A.
When you say keep on the farm are you saying keep a workhorse on the farm or are you saying keep a nicely restored jeep on the farm.
Work horse would be the MB as is returned to good running order.
Nice restored jeep on the farm would be the MB for lot's of money into it or the CJ2A for about 1/2 the investment you'd put in the MB. _________________ Wes K

I was pretty sure the MB restored would be the more valued. It will take alot more to get it to a serious coin level. The intent for the "keeper" jeep is going to be working around the farm, tooling around and driving to the dumpster to get rid of garbage, go into town and pick up a couple sacks of chicken feed, drag logs, etc. It's not going to be a high dollar restored jeep. It will get repaired where needed and made road worthy. I think Wesk pretty much confirmed what I was thinking. I'm gonna keep the 638632 motor for the MB, just incase. I will sell the 804380, I think that was a late M38 casting? I also have a 636953 I have not been able to track down. It's got the old contac t starter on it, kind of cute. What's the best way to sell parts? I have several 6 volt starters, generators, regulators, etc. Along with a ton of other stuff? I was thinking Ebay, I can run the stuff by you folks if that would be of value to anybody? Is there any Holy Grail parts I should be looking for? I have at least one set of bows, still digging for hardware on the Cj@ side. The MB has a Best Top. I also have a slew of axles, some are new and have that plastic gig on the splins, any axles better than others?
Well here I go, as you can tell I have alot of questions. I will try and get more organized rather than just vomit them outr as they cross my mind.
Post your parts you wish to sell on the "for sale board".
The 804380 casting is both late M38 and CJ3A and industrial engine application. The serial number above the water pump is the only clue that positively ID's any Willys engine casting to a specific chassis installation. _________________ Wes K
