Where does it end?

This was a good weekend......sorta. I finally got the frame broke loose from the springs and axles and got it loaded on the trailer ready to ship off to the body shop Tuesday morning. But in doing so when I allowed the rear axle to tip forward onto its springs gear oil came gushing out of the front input seal.....so looks like I got a new task to add to the list again. Also when I removed the rear shackles I was surprised to discover that they were all right-hand threaded.....so I figured I would have one to replace anyway. Once I got the shackles out and cleaned up though there was an entirely different story to tell. One shackles is very badly twisted....kinda like that gal from Texas.....who's one eye is lookin at Dallas while her other one is looking at Ft. Worth. And the other shackles is soo badly colapsed there is no way I would try to reuse it. So it looks like they are both getting replaced. Fortunately I was anticipating this and will go back in with the reinforced heavy duty shackles that I bought last year.

I also learned a really good, valuable lesson.......if you're honing your master cylinder.....and your wife yells at you and tells you that lunch is ready.......do not yell back that you'll be there in five minutes....as soon as you finish honing your master cylinder! You will NOT finish in five minutes......you won't finish in fifteen minutes........you probably won't even finish in an hour. You will however get to enjoy a very quiet and very cold lunch.......several hours later. I just hope the first time she's driving and the brakes work extremely well that she remembers yesterday....and all my dedication to "gettin the job done right"......right.

Final lesson for the weekend........when all your relatives are standing around admiring your handiwork......do not show off by running the transmission through its gears without first mating it up to the transfer case. I knew better.....so all I can plead is insanity (and maybe a really strong desire to rebuild my transmission again). The #@$%@ main shaft slide back just far enough that I could hear roller bearings falling to the bottom of the case. Yeah.....that brought their confidence level up to an all time high.......at least they probably won;t be hounding me for a ride any time soon!

Okay.....time to start harassing my machine shop about my engine. I just hope reassembly is half the fun disassembly has been.

Jim,

I did the same thing with my T90. I herd all those little needle bearings drop out. I felt stupid.
