body panel joint sealant

I didn't want to hi-jack Deadguys post on sealant but it brought up a question of my own.
When I cut out the toolbox so I could get to the floor replacement work, it seemed like there was a sealant between the box and the floor joint. Yes/no? Maybe it was just excess paint, I wasn't able to tell. So was there any sealant used between the body panels that were spot welded?

I used autobody seam sealant on EVERY seam of my M38's tub after a good priming, when I had it sand blasted...after putting a new OEM floor in the front. THAT was fifteen years ago. It has been sanded and repainted twice. I drive my M38 a lot in the warm months. It gets wet sometimes. I have had rust spots appear here and there but NEVER where a lap joint is present and covered with seam sealer on both sides. Pack rust attacking the bodies lap joints has always been a big problem with Jeeps. (how you going to get any paint between the lapped joints and then weld them?) The next best thing is to prevent any water, or moisture getting in there, even from condensation, let alone rain. I have several friends who during their restorations on various MV's, also coated both sides of their spot welded, lap joints with seam sealer.....NO PACK RUST. I am sold...they are sold.

Yes ,this is a NOS M38 firewall that was removed from the floor panel.
You can see the sealer that is left.
