Hello everyone I am looking for a little advice about the best way to refit my front springs on my 1944 Gpw when I got the jeep the springs had been put over the axel to make the jeep sit higher so I removed the springs to swing them under the axel so it sits right but the problem I am now having is I can't see to get the pins to line up right everytime I line up one side it puts the other side out of line it seems as if the propshaft is getting in the way any advice would be great thanks in advance.

Take the drive shaft off til you get the axle back on. Maybe the drive shaft got lengthened when they raised the jeep up.

Most likely the drive shafts were replaced with longer units when the spring over mod was done.

Remove both drive shafts and collapse them and measure their lengths from U joint center to U joint center. Compare the measurements to TM 9-1803B if you have a T84 transmission and TM 9-1804B if you have a T90 transmission.

Also be careful which U-joint flange you have that connects to the rear output companion flange of the of the transfer case. The MB and early M38 are 1 3/8" tall and the later is 1 5/8" tall. They are measured from the flat face that mates to the transfer case brake drum and the center line of the U-joint.

drive shaft has to be longer when you put springs on top...also check & see that spring mounting bracket on axle hasn't been cut lose & turned & then welded back...you have to turn the front of the diff. [on both front & rear] up to get things to work & also cut & reweld pittman arm or tie rod ends to get it to steer right....another thing you need to check is some people cut front & rear spring mounting brackets from frame & put 2in. sq. tube between spring bracket & frame... have done a bunch of them in my dark past with 900X16 tractor tires mounted on 10in.wide rims & winches on front & back they can't be stopped
