I have finished my rotisseire and have the frame mounted. Have got the body back from having it stripped and the rust treated/neutralized and am ready to order body panels to start the rebuild on the body. I have a NOS firewall and floor board to install and also need to replace at a minimum the right front lower cowl, cowl braces, steps and rear floor. Anyone with an opinion on whose body panels to use I would apppreciate any input before I order any metal.
Bretto,
Your right, I need to resize them up a little before I load them to the gallery. I try and keep them small for the uploading etc since I am on satellite here out in the country. If you look at them in my photo album on Pg. 9 they are a good size.
I doubt I will try building many of my parts. The rust on the right cowl is pretty extensive and it already has had a pretty bad repair made on it by one of the POs.
They say their process is "green" and is not an acid dip. I want to think that the paint and bondo removal tank was a caustic lye, but not sure. The rust treatment stuff again I don't know but they said it was similar to Evap o Rust when I asked.
I know that they had several HUMVEE frames that they were doing for the military.
After they finished the process they sprayed a rust inhibitor on the bare metal to reduce flash rust. When I asked about it since I don't know how long it will take me to do the work they gave me about 3 gallons of the stuff.
I don't know where Kern Co. is but you might look them up on the net and I am sure they call tell you alot more than I can and they might be able to tell you of a place close to you.
I thought their price was pretty reasonable, it was about the same as I had been quoted for sand blasting.
