OK, here we go,
Who sells a replacment float for the YS 950, I picked one up and the person who last played with it failed to carefully reassemble it. The main venturi pick up tube was dislodged and forced into the float when the cover was fastened down. it dented the float pretty good. I hate carb problems so a new float is in warranted. I have checked all the carb kit suppliers for this carb and no float is listed. I would even like to buy a good used one ! My good laugh was the guy I picked it up from stated it was off a running Jeep ! Huh, it must have been pouring fuel out of the tail pipe ! I didn't care, I was going to rebuild it anyway. I just love the tales some people have to make either dishonest or ignorant statements to get a sale. It is really a nice carb otherwise. I got it for a good price so not much complaining.
I guess I could call Midwest and see if John has one, or ,maybe one of you could help me out ? The a1 will look better with the correct carb

Most parts on these military jeeps are designed to be repaired and not necessarily replaced. The float is no exception.
I had a float with a teeny tiny hole in it. It was the cause of my jeep totally flooding out. I did the old trick of submersing my float in a pan of boiling water and watching for the bubbles. The bubbles would tell me where the hole was. I did this trick over and over with the hope of simply soldering over the hole when the bubbles ceased to come out. One has to repeat that process. I finally gave up and drilled a hole where the bubbles came out, drained the gas in the float and then soldered the hole up.
Oh, and if your float is not punctured and have gas in it, when you put a sealed float in boiling water, the air inside the float will expand and should pop out a dent.
