Hello,

I am in need of springs and front bushings for the rear springs on my M170.

I've heard that the some of the parts might be interchangeable with the M38A1. Can anyone please tell me if this is true and if so, where a good place is to get some?

Really want to get my M170 back on the road, so I can enjoy the summer in it.
Thanks for your help~
Michael D.

Go to our downloads page and download the free parts and tech manuals for the M38A1/M170 jeeps.

The parts manual shows the difference in the springs and lists their part numbers. The TM 9-8014 along with the necessary changes completes the spring specification info for both jeeps where you will again see significant differences.

The Downloads section:

The Manuals section:

The M38A1 manuals:

The changes are important in your case especially since the original TM 9-804A, and TM 9-8015-1 & -2 came out before the M170 was introduced. Thus the M170 information is only found in the changes to the 8015-1 and in the newer Operator's handbook 8014 dtd 1955.

The springs are described in detail in TM 9-8014 page 291 and change 1 to 8015-1 on page 31.

Thank you both for your quick reply and all the information, I'll look into it.

If that junkyard still has an M170 I'd be very interested in checking that out. I live in southwest Virginia right next to the NC border. Please give me a call (276>655<9962) or PM me on the details. I'm usually in by dark. Thanks again!
