On my M38 there is a gusset that goes on the seam where the lower cowl and the quarter panel come together. The right one is in the area of the tool box, the left one in the area of the gas tank. When I took my gussets off the one on the left as set up into the channel at the top of the panels and then extended over the seam between the panels to the bottom of the floor panel. The right one was welded to the outside of the channel and then cut off at the top of the tool box. Is this attachment, different on each side and cut off on the right side correct for these two gussets? Considering the number of questionable repairs done on this jeep I wasn't sure if there were correct factory installations or not.
Ralph

Thanks John, I will proceed accordingly on the left. Am I correct that the right gusset only extends to the top of the tool box?

The RH or toolbox gusset is just a flat piece of metal that extends from the top to the bottom of the first tool indent. It doesn't go all the way down to the toolbox top. The drivers side gusset is a "T" and it goes all the way to the floor. There is a gas tank strap bracket that goes just behind the "T". Hope this helps. John
