I need to know if the head studs on my RMCXXXXX are all suppose to be the same length and if not which ones are longer and also the location of the long ones. Thanks. Brett[/b]

Look at page 39 of your ORD 9 SNL G758 M38A1 parts manual! Wink
The M38A1 uses bolts for the head not studs.

Getting late. The data is also in the M38 ORD 9 SNL G-740 page 27 12 short and 3 long. And the step by step is in the TM 9-1804A page 94 & 95.

Thanks, so the bolts on my M38 enginehead are original, i wondered why there where bolts used and not studs with nuts as in our GPW. In the past before i restored my M38 the engine had been rebuild ( greek rebuilding tag on the block ) and the head was fixed with bolts. Because compression was good and equal on all cylinders i left the head on the block.

M38A1 F134 engine head uses bolts.

M38 L134 engine head uses studs.
