For those of you who have never attended a Great Willys Picnic, be sure to make it to the next one!
This past Sunday I attended my first. The weather forecast was for intermittant showers but it did not hold back the dedicated Willys addicts.
There was everything from DRMO jeeps to motorpool to unrestored to factory class and everything in between; Military and Civilian.
I met a couple of MJeeps members, Forward control fans, jeepster fans, CJ5 fans, an implement guy with a Newgren saw and a monsterous compressor jeep.
Noteworthy for me were the unrestored CJ2A (Carl Walak), a nice M38, CJV35U (Bob W), stunningly restored pickup and a trio of field grade 61, 62, 63 CJ5's.
Parts: there was a NICE original M38 fuel tank for $100
This is a crowd that does most of their own work on their own vehicles. Its not like the show and shine car shows where the owners can only tell you what the cost was and who they send it to. Everyone had a story, everyone was switched on and everyone had a good time.
Special thanks to Bob W and the team who makes this happen and run smoothly. Putting these events together must be a lot of work so great job.

It was nice to see a few of the willysmjeeps guys at the picnic! The day flew by for me. I wish there was more time to talk with everyone. Hope to see everyone at the Picnic next year on June 12, 2011. _________________ Bob W. Monticello, NY. 1952 CJ3A, 1952 M38, 1950 CJV-35/U
