Hello all. I recently joined the forum. I have a 1952 M38A1 that was my Grandfathers. This is all new stuff to me. I'm sure I have a lot to learn about the M38. I am a car guy so mechanical stuff is no problem.... but the 24 volt system(water tight) is something I am not too familar with. My M38 has the blackout lights (yes they work!), a small trailer, personal gas fired heater which I'm not even going to see if it works, in fear of losing my M38 in a fire lol. And another thing I feel fortunate for is grandpa left me about 5 totes FULL of extra parts for the Jeep so I'm pretty excited about that, but haven't had time to rummage through all of them yet.

Very nice looking M38A1.

Do not fear that gas fired heater. Respect it, maintain it properly but don't be afraid of it. They are very effective units and are still produced and used today. Stewart Warner, Southwind, Janitrol and Perfecto were all very respected manufactures who provided very effective and safe heating units for many years. All the needed tech data to support them is still here. I have a half dozen of these and have been running and maintaining them since the 70's.

4077:
Welcome to the forum. That's a nice looking inheritance from your grandfather.
One comment to help avoid confusion in the future: Always refer to your jeep with the full M38A1, or "A1". If you use just "M38" around here, we'll think you are talking about, well, an M38 instead of an M38A1.
