on my m38a1 parts jeep which i believe to have been issued to the marines, i notice the generator is 28 volts and the volt reg is 24v, both looks different than the a1 i restored. can someone explain what went on here. could this be original issued components. thxs _________________ 1953 m38a1 1953 m100
28 and 24 actually means the same thing. Just like 6 and 7 volts or 12 and 14 volts.
The nominal voltages of most vehicles are 6, 12 or 24 (battery voltages).
The charging system voltages are generally higher IE 7.5, 14.0 and 28.0. So the systems are referred to by their charging voltage and the vehicle by it's battery voltage.
Mix and match is common for electrical component ID plates. _________________ Wes K
