I just picked up a really clean un-restored, un-molested 1967 M725 from a fellow who bought it surplus over 20 years ago. Really nice older gentelman who finally realized that he would never have the time to do a restoration on it. So I got it for a great price $2400. It had sat for a few years, but some fresh gas and batteries and we were able to get it running and loaded on the trailer for the ride home. This will be my next project. Anyway enough talk and on with the pics!
It should fit in nicely with the rest of my M-series vehicles.
As I explored through it last night I found a few neat things hiding in the bins in the back, including a really cool Dec. 1970 TRANSPORTATION OF THE SICK AND WOUNDED field manual. Also a helmet liner, new seat covers, sand bags, tent stakes, all the tow shackles and pins, bumper support brackets, battery tiedows, the special spark plug wire removal tool and a lot of dust and dirt that has accumulated for the last 45 years.
The story from the owner was that it was one of several that were stationed with the Army's detatchment at Selfridge Air Base for its whole life. In the early 80's they auctioned off the fleet of them except for this one which was kept and used by the maintenance guys at the Air Bases golf course until it was sold at a surplus auction in the early 90's. The owner was a big surplus auction follower and bought and sold all kinds of surplus items over the years. He bought it with the plans to resote it and keep it with the rest of the military vehicles he had. He finnaly made the decision that he would never have the time to get it done so he put it up for sale. It was stored inside it's whole life except for the last 4 or 5 years since he moved out to the family farm. He was relieved when I showed him my restoration book of trucks I've done and I even left him several of the pics out of it so he could show his family what the old 725 has to look forward too. He even got a little teary eyed as I pulled out with it, running his hand over the fender flares as I pulled away. I promised to send him updated pictures of it as I move along with it. _________________ Dave

Hello Beast and congrats on your new project. Ryan and I always wanted this board to include all Post WWII Willys / Kaiser military vehicles. It would be great to see a blow by blow here on both your already finished M715 and your new project. _________________ Wes K

Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted as I progress along. It should be a double wammi as I get ready for paint, as I still need to give my 38a1 a quick repaint and correct markings. I'll most likely try and knock the both out at the same time. I'm going to need to find another vehicle from 1953 to fit the pattern as I now have 3 from 1967 (M715, M725, M35a2) and only two from 1953 (M38a1, M37). _________________ Dave

Well like most projects, this one has been progressing along much slower than I would like but after a busy summer with work. But I have finally got the M725 to the point of paint.

Well luckily I bought the truck in all original and running condition and other than installing a new fuel pump there really was no work needed along those areas. I simply just scraped the heavy scale off and painted them. Right now with everything I have going on with work and family, I just don't have the extra time to do a full frame off like I did with my M715 back in 04-05, so this will be more along the lines of a motorpool restoration to keep it from deteriorating any further until maybe the kids are a little older and want to have that great father/son project. At which time we'll pull the body and do the full frame up rebuild.
Here are a few pics of the chassis and running gear on my M715 from late 04 or early 05. The M725 uses the exact frame and running gear as the M715.

Finally was able to get things finished up the other week on my M725. The biggest wait was waiting on the glass guys to get the new windows installed all the way around.
