I took the body off my M-38A1 today in preparation of taking the springs, axles and other parts off to get the frame ready to be sent to the sandblaster. When I got the body off I found the rear cross member was bolted on with round head Allen screws and nuts...
I need to know what type of rivet (flat or round head), size (3/8" or other) and quantity (I think I need 10; 4 on each frame rail and 2 on the pintle hook bracket) to order to do the repair. I want to take the Allen screws out and fix it properly...
I looked through the forums but was unable to confirm the information I need...
Thanks in advance... _________________ Hal, KB1ZQ

I think your hole sizes you find when you remove the current fasteners will dictate your rivet diameters. If they seem large I would try weld filling them and re-drilling. Without some way to re-temper the steel you'll be inviting cracks as soon as the frame is placed back in service. _________________ Wes K

All the photos I see in your albums are from the inside of the frame, also it appears that the pintle plate is welded to the cross member...
Also FYI I only see 30 photos there... _________________ Hal, KB1ZQ

Well then we both are blind. I recounted 20 on page one and 11 on page 2! _________________ Wes K
