I was just asked this question in a PM and I want to share it here where it can be read and learned from by everyone.

TB ORD 570 addresses their installation but it does not address the bushing placement or purpose.
Here you can see the bushing
Here is a photo (source unknown) with the bushing inserted on the end of the spline drive shaft.

I believe the bushing is used for either the M38 or the MB/GPW to account for the different axle design. I am not sure which application uses the bushing. |

Circleburner, where did you find the Clary flanges? I am looking for a set.
