Years ago, I replaced the missing rifle rack on my M38, and then purchased a Saginaw M1 carbine to display in the rack. M1 prices have gone through the roof lately, so I have been afraid to display the real M1 in the jeep. Found this cheap Airsoft M1 that actually matches an original one almost perfectly, although I'm not too fond of the clip.
Now I can display a rifle in the rack, so people can understand what that thing is on the windshield, and not have to worry too much if this $30 Airsoft M1 suddenly grows legs and walks off! _________________ Chuck W.

Good idea, think I will leave the clip out. Also plan to leave the orange plug on it in light of recent events.
Seat covers are OD leatherette from David Pizzoferrato. They are correct for the M38, although some people don't think so. Last year, coming home from the Mobile show, it rained all the way and my canvas seats were completely soaked, so I decided to change to the leatherette and have been very happy with it. Much more water proof and gives me something else to argue with folks about!!
This is my jeep before I changed the seat covers, the canvas was getting pretty worn. About time to replace the top.

Looks great! And yes the airsoft weapons make for a nice alternative to displaying real weapons. I use several for my vehicles and they are great because you don't have to worry about sticky fingers at shows. The M1 is nice and I was going to pick one up recently but it appears most of the major airsoft retailers are out of them. So I'll wait until they have them back in stock. The 2 retailers I use the most are www.evike.com and www.airsoftgi.com Here are a few pics of some of the airsoft weapons I use for vehicle displays.

I've got an Airsoft M16 that I display with my mule:
and I've got this M1919 that I built a while back that I have no idea what I'm going to do with!
I had a gas M2 on the jeep for a while but had so much trouble with people telling me it was against the law, I finally stopped displaying it. _________________ Chuck W.

I found my Carbine on Amazon several months ago, but just checked and I don't see them listed any more. I think the price was about $30. _________________ Chuck W.
