I'd like a clarification on the seven to eight switch to hood numbers.
According to previous posts that occurred at a particular serial
number. All M38's after that number had eight digit numbers
correct?
More importantly, did the earlier units keep their seven digit
numbers until disposal or did they get an eight digit number
at some time?
It is posted on the M38 jeep serial listing. The switch occurs in May 51 around serials 20XXX. Registration numbers were used to track the jeeps through their entire career and maintain each jeeps records. They didn't swap them around. The only time a motor pool would concern themselves with a serial number was when ordering parts. _________________ Wes K

I haven't had time to update the listing since last winter. Hope to this winter. _________________ Wes K
