My first (summer 63) was a 53 Ford two door sedan flathead V8 3 spd OD Black with mohair gray interior. I brush painted it red and drove it for a year untill I got my driver license then I moved up to a 1950 Pontiac 2 dr. six stick. The 53 Ford developed a rod knock towards the end. No matter how long and hard I pushed her in 2nd gear that rod never let loose and she never loss oil pressure. I actually drove her to the junk yard. _________________ Wes K

It was a metallic Blue '74 CJ5 with the original 304 V8 & 3 speed tranny. A local bank had repo'd it from a farmer who was using it as a hunting rig . . . it had monster mudders & a steering wheel from an old Model T (you had to have a big steering wheel to steer on those tires), & a Swiss Cheese rear bed.
Over the course of 6 months we replaced the windshield, front & rear end, tires, seats, wiring harness, top, starter, alternator, water pump, thermostat, brakes & master brake cylinder . . . did I miss anything? . . Oh yeah, a new exhaust system to replace the glasspacks so you could hear (anything) when it was running. I covered the rear bed with some rubber floor panels & a piece of carpet & it was ready to go.
I continue to kick myself for selling it in college . . . . I'll try to find a pic & post it. Had some great times in that Jeep . . . learned a lot, too, that's helping me in my restoration of the 2 I have now.
