The right tool for the right job goes a long way in this hobby. Just imagine had you at least borrowed a real torch you would have finished this task the evening of the 5th and skipped washing the dishes and had the barley pop a day earlier! _________________ Wes K

Right, I should have looked at my engine. I was thinking about the pipe fitting at the rear of the head - that was the one I had trouble with. Heat saved the day. _________________ 1951 M38

I am happy it's over for you. Like pulling a stuck steering wheel or stuck rear axle flange. A broken off stud in cast iron is no fun either. Stud in aluminum is even worse. Are you putting in the electric sender per original? You are one of the only guys I know who owns a '50 M38. That's a early one. Some day, we will drive them together with Muley. We ain't getting younger either, so get at it bud!

Hey,
Aaron has 11328! He's in Aberdeen.
Chances are our rigs were on the floor at the same time.
I have three more nerve rackers on that head. There's a square head
pipe plug at the top rear that Bubba ground off until it's nearly
unrecognizable. I guess I could just ignore it....
The other three headaches are somewhere in the dim, foggy somebody removed the three longer studs for the engine lift bracket.
