Interesting that in the documentation above the 3rd shows both a vertical and
horizontal "lozenge".

The serial # is 29609 from your data it shows 8/51 manufacture. It has the tag behind passenger seat but most (the important ones) of the dash plates are missing. That's all I have other than some verbal statements from the previous owner who said it was stored near Camp LeJune for many years. The engine is a CJ3 not military the rest appears all original

I believe this M38 could have been at Camp LeJune it came from NC and had been stored many years. Other than the front floorboards which were Bubba repaired the rest is rock solid. Peeling undercoating reveals original paint.

Military surplus was shipped from it's last post to a regional DRMO for disposal. The only way to ID that last post is from the last unit markings found on the jeep or the SF-Form-97 issued to the first civilian buyer.

Where the jeep was found in later years does not tell us where it came from.

Apples & oranges. The upper reference was to the local symbols applied only to the three divisions that invaded Iwo Jima during WWII to ID their equipment by Division. The later illustration was the Marine Corp wide list that changed the 3rd to vertical.

I realize that without documentation there's no way to determine if it was there. Did you include my serial # in the database? Are there any images of a Marine Corp Korean era jeep on this site? Been looking but no luck Thanks!

After Googling some images it's obvious most keeps used in Korea were MB's WWII vintage. Marine Corp markings appear to be spare, hood side marks, bumperetts, a white star at the rear. I'd like to be reasonably accurate obviously going to take more study.
