Presently attempting to reconnect my flexible oil lines back to where they belong and want to make sure I have them correct. The manuals I have do not show much detail so I am asking for some help. Starting with the longer of the two lines I believe this one runs from the top of the filter to the block but should there be any fittings such as an elbow to connect to? The shorter of the two lines I believe run from the bottom of the oil filter to the timing chain cover. In one of my manuals there appears to be a elbow on the bottom of the cannister to connect to but what about the timing chain cover end? Looking at the hose one of the ends appears to require a flare fitting. If someone could tell me which fittings I am missing it would be much appreciated. Also is anything used to seal the threads on the connections? Thanks much.

Pipe threads usually require no sealant but in situations where they are subject to rotation I use a dab of "Tite-Seal" medium weight. Flared fittings do their sealing between the tube flare and the fitting seat thus no sealant is used on their threads.

Forgot to mention I have the big cannister style oil filter assembly I believe it is a Fram. After looking at my manuals again I see a elbow fitting in the bottom of the cannister but that is all I can make out. I would think there is also a fitting in the block and also the timing chain cover. Can someone describe these fittings to me so I will know what to ask for at the store. Thanks.

The fitting for the oil line to the block is behind the fuel pump. In the diagrams supplied it can't be seen but if you examine the manuals, or your block, you will see where the oil gallery is and several plugs along the left side leading into the block. The front most fitting is where the oil line goes. And, in fact, you will most likely have to take the fuel pump off to reach the fitting. In the diagram provided above, you can see the oil line going to the timing chain cover on it's upper right side. _________________ 1951 M38

I did indeed look through your photo album Wes but I failed to see a close up photo of the fittings required to connect the flexible oil line to the block and timing chain cover. Could you direct me to the specific photo that would show these connections. Thanks.
This shows which hose and where they go. Also ID's the type fiting in the timing cover. It is PN 137405
This one shows you which fittings go into which end of the fat junior filter housing. You screw the 90 deg fiting in the bottom of the can and screw the hose into it.

Is this the fitting (street elbow)you're looking for? I'm pretty sure it is the same one that screws into the side of the block (behind the fuel pump) for the oil line. Should be 1/8" NPT male to 1/8" NPT female 90deg street elbow. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

The top fitting 1/8" male Pipe to 3/16" inverted flare tube.
This is an L134 but the setup is the same for the F134. _________________ Wes K
