I have attached two pictures of how I think the throttle cable and choke cable attach to the hold downs on the carb. The choke cable is on the bottom and the throttle cable is the higher cable towards the head. I didn't have this stuff on mine when I took it apart and wanted to see if I had it correct before cuttling the cables to length.
One other question The connection on the carb throttle levers for the hand throttle has no screw to tighten to hold the throttle cable wire. Does anyone have a picture of the type clamp used and where to get one.
The part you are looking for is brass, about the same diameter as the brass piece on the linkage. It has a screw on one of the flat ends and a hole drilled through the barrel to accept the throttle wire.
it is don't this way so that the throttle arm can move freely. As you step on the gas the linkage moves but leaves the throttle stop part where it was.
EDIT: there are a couple on the big online auction site. Type in "Willys throttle cable stop". Interesting there are two type showing up. One as I described and one with the screw in the side and the wire hole runs lengthwise. _________________ '52 Dodge M37, '42 GPW, '48 FrankenJeep CJ2A/M38, '50 CJV-35(U), '51 M38, '42 WC-57 Command Car, '44 WC-51 Weapons , (2) M1941 Sperry 60" Anti-Aircraft Searchlights, John Deere M-gator, '44 White M3A1 Scout Car
As for the clamps. Neither of my M38s or the carbs I have use a nut between the clamps.
Its a round head straight slot screw going in from the passengers side, through the throttle clamp and into the airhorn bracket. The screw is secured with a four sided nut that fits the bracket so it won't spin when tightening the clamp screw. _________________ '52 Dodge M37, '42 GPW, '48 FrankenJeep CJ2A/M38, '50 CJV-35(U), '51 M38, '42 WC-57 Command Car, '44 WC-51 Weapons , (2) M1941 Sperry 60" Anti-Aircraft Searchlights, John Deere M-gator, '44 White M3A1 Scout Car
Here's two more from my album as well and yes these are in your manuals.
On another note your arrangement "Nut, choke clamp, Nut Throttle clamp/bracket & screw is backwards a wee bit. Plus your screw is too long and there is only one nut used.
The screw goes from pass side to driver side thru both clamps using obly one square nut on the driver's side of the bracket.
.
The choke clamp goes on the pass side.
