Hello Guys
"Long time no hear". It was quite a while since I last put something in this forum, but now it is time for that.

As I told you in my last post, I got the jeep back from refurbishing the gearboxes in the early February 2019, and then realised that it was necessary to buy new tires, the original Firestone NDCC are dangerous to drive in wet snow and slippery roads.
So I ordered new tires from Germany on a reccomendation from one of the jeep guys in the Swedish jeep forum.

And one day in the early spring I found the new tires on my drive way.

After sanding and painting the new tires looks very nice.

But when running the jeep I found that the engine was spitting, dying and being tired. Finally I didn't have any other choice than refurbish the Solex carburator. Luckely I found a repair kit on the internet and started disassembly the carb.

After this the jeep have been running clear and nice.
Just in time for "The Nostalgia Vehicle Festival" I found a shovel to put under the hood.

The festival took place on 30 June, the warmest day this summer. And suddenly a Swedish paratrooper showed up at the jeep. He was together with a bunch of international paratrooper dropped over Normandie, France on D-Day +75, in June. Nice to have him at the jeep for this photo.

And the summer was running along with some work and some lazy days.

Guys, I let you know more sometime in the future, when I have more to say. I wish you all jeepers a ver good 2020.

Great shots. Yes it always is a pleasure to meet survivors of a war so long ago no matter which side they were on then!

How does your engine behave on the off camber hillsides with the Solex? Have you ever had the opportunity to drive that model jeep with it's original off road capable Carter YS950S?

Wes, thanks for the new year greetings, and the same to you. If you remember you and I were born the same year.

No, unfortunately I have not driven the jeep on steep hill sides, so far only on flat surfaces as asphalt and grubble roads in the forests. The jeeps I drove some 45 years ago were CJ-2 and a CJ-3 done service in the Swedish army. They were flat heads with Carter carbs, but I can not compare these with my Solex. I can only say that the F-134 with the Solex is running properly when the engine got driving temp. When it is half-warm it is a little censorious with the choke.

The paratrooper on the picture is actually an active paratrooper in the Swedish airforce, celebrating 75 years anneversary of D-Day in France by flying together with an international crew in an American aircraft from 1943, starting from Duxford airfield in England, dropping the paratroopers over Normandie. He and a flying crew came in to this Nostalgia Festival in a DC-3 aircraft, actuallty this aircraft dropped paratroopers over Normandie in 1945. The aircraft was after the WWII sold to the Swedish airline SAS, and nowadays is flying with the Swedish flying Veterans. (A long story about a simple photo).
