Hope I'm posting this question correctly, (This is my first post) I'm in process of rebuilding my M38A1 generator. It currently has sealed bearings as does the kit that I'm expecting. The oil slinger and its gearing are missing from my generator, I'm guessing because sealed bearings were installed. however it did have oil in the front reservoir.

The question is this: being that I'm installing sealed bearings does that mean that I *do not* have to include oil in the the front and rear bearing recesses?

I was planning to at least run an oiled finger around the bearing seats and still soak the felt washer. I'm open to suggestions.

A followup question is: Do I need to make some sort of space accommodations (adding a nylon washer as an example) for the missing slinger parts?

Hello Chad,

I'll assume you are rebuilding a GHA4802 series Generator.

Will you be using an aftermarket Repair Kit or a NOS ORD# 5703308 Repair Kit-213?

This is it, correct the GHA 4802, thank you

I currently do not access to the album however I would like to request to set up an album.

I'm not certain about the repair kit yet it's on it's way and cannot make out the part number from the photos. It was represented as NOS however. I'm expecting it at the end of the month.

The thing that threw me was the absence of the slinger but the presence of oil in the forward recess. It got me questioning what was considered necessary.

But thanks again this is what I was looking for. I appreciate the site and your help. I'm glad to be a part of it.
