Made it back from our deployment to the covid restrictions. My apologies for the Ford photos. I will take it down.

Side note- There was a gentleman I was in contact they here with up in MA who had a m38 body for sale. I can’t find the text info as my cell did a data dump while I was in Panama. Need to contact him as I’m restricted to 50 miles from Portsmouth VA due to COVID. Can’t get to MA at all.

Started the Jeep yesterday for a bit. Hard starting! Unhooked my gas tank as it smells sweet. Hooked an I’ve bottle to start it.

Kaiserwillys has a 10% code for this week. Debating on what parts to buy first. I’m confident I can repair a lot of this body with patch panels, just need to start taking it apart and listing my needs.

Will update this build with more info as it comes. I’m standing by to deploy again soon.
My title finally showed up from Oregon. They are 2 months behind on paperwork, and my plate showed up. No registration fees from now on due to antique status.

I'm in the Boston, MA area and happy to help facilitate anything once you have the guy's contact info. I'm 100% mobile - we're open and I'm US Army so able to travel anywhere I need to.

I took the tarp off again and took apart the seats. There was the original canvas, covered by a green OD vinyl and then covered over with a blue vinyl.
The driver seat post is toast. The bottom of the driver seat pan is toast.

Passenger seat looked good overall. I did not keep the spring section because it was rusted and rat hair was imbedded.

Gas tank still has some gas in it. I need to figure out if I need to seal the inside of that tank. Exterior of it seems okay, however the sending unit is destroyed.

90* out in the sun. Took salty apart today.

I really want to rebuild my drivetrain ASAP. But we shall see which happens first.
I have an easier time pushing my 63f100 around compared to this Jeep. I feel like it is just dragging! I will take the drive shafts off tomorrow.

I spent a few hours with the trusty desalt grinder today.
Grinding disks are useless. Cut off wheels are great and flap disc are my favorite.

I cut the rear bumper off. Saved the pintle hook. It’s tough to open. I will get that freed up soon enough,
I need to clean up and punch the rivets off the rear frame area. It was riveted from factory. The front bumper is tomorrow’s job too. That is bolted on since previous owner had a snow plow on this Jeep.

Tried moving Jeep around yard a little to cut the grass. Brakes are dragging. For another day.

Spent two hours tonight out in the yard working on the bumper sections and cutting off a few bolts.
(the images were lost or corrupted so i deleted the post image message telling us this)

Tomorrow I am off. I will roll the frame closer to my patio, set up my engine house and pull the drive train. I can split it all and then drag those bits to the garage out front.

Had today off of work so I worked in the yard on the Jeep.
Pulled engine, transmission, transfer case, drive shafts and rear leaf springs and shocks.

There used to be a bunch of photos on here, but the post image album i had for it was corrupted and lost.

Been doing a lot of reading on my duty days
From the CG colors and coatings manual from 1952. From readings of veterans accounts, they would gather anything they could and make it work. Even stole an army Jeep and painted in CG colors and markings. Anyway. What I been doing on here and other sites for the research as I build.

I tried doing some frame work today but I was dehydrated and it was 95* and humid. Was just too much for me so I went inside.
Only thing I got done was remove three of the four tie downs and broke a bolt off in the frame. That will require drill and tapping.

There used to be a bunch of photos here, but my postimage album had been corrupted and lost- causing big blue warnings stating that in place- i deleted them.

Very interesting to see these pages from your Coast Guard Colors Manual. Especially since the second page lists the early 50's US Fed Std 4 digit numbers along with the Early 50's Coast Guard 2 digit numbers. What is the number of this manual? In the interest of expanding our free reference library for our members I would ask if you could email me a PDF copy of that manual so I may add it to our public files. Any other Coast Guard manuals that mey also apply to vehicles would be nice as well.

Also very interesting.

Coastieread, Disregard my request. I found a PDF copy of the manual on line. Also found a 1965 edition on line also.

1952 edition: https://media.defense.gov/2019/Jul/12/2002156408/-1/-1/0/1952_CG263_PAINT.PDF
