Just wondering if I will have any difficulties using battery cables from Saturn Surplus on my M38. See the link below. Looks like Saturn has 31", 32", and 36" cables. I was thinking of buying a 31" and 32". Will these lengths work? Looks like the original lengths are 29" & 33". Any thoughts?

Thank you,

Dave

I know there is threads on this site that describe length and gauge but the specifics escape me at the moment. I went with those numbers to the local welding shop who made a set for me.

Thanks guys. I was just wondering if I would run into trouble using the slightly different cable lengths from Saturn Surplus.

Since sale across the table of any substitute leaves doubt on fit it is best to nail down what you are getting in exact dimensions (Ie center of terminal to center of terminal or cable actual length plus the length of the terminals then duplicate these lengths with a piece of rope and make sure you are happy with the fit.

Also stay cognizant of the gauge of the replacement cables. 2 Ga.

I do not recall seeing any cable lengths in the 1951 or 1955 ORD 9 for the M38. They are listed in the 1956 ORD 8 as " Cable Battery to Battery 30", Cable Battery to Ground 16" and Cable Battery to Starter 18".

Thanks Wes. Looks like the Saturn cables are 0 Gauge. Maybe I won't be a cheap Charlie and just buy a reproduction set.
