|
|
Just thought I'd share my rescources for parts for the M170
Upper stretcher racks - good luck, not to be found anywhere. I found one and had to give up my first born.
Reel light- they are at Midwestmil and some are listed at the G503.com under the m38a1. Expensive.
NOS canvas top and sides - Mullinsjeepparts.com has/had some
Emergency brake cable- Mullinsjeepparts.com has some
Long exhaust pipe NOS- Mullins has them, very nice galvanized original not painted like I've seen on ebay.
Sway bar bushings- I measured mine and bought upgraded version from energy suspensions. The part numbers are as follows:
(1 set) 9.8106G End Link Bushings
(2 Pair) 9.5106G Frame Bushings
(2 Pair) 9.8107G Shock Eye Bushings
These will do both bars
Fuel tank sender (it is unique to the M170)- Midwest has them and it was a pleasant surprize!
Gas tank- I've only seen one come up for sale in two years of searching. I ended up restoring mine at Moyers Gas Tank Repair for a clone of my first born. Lifetime warrantee. FYI I paid more for my gas tank restoration than I paid for the whole Jeep!
Top Bows- I've heard that Ron Fitzpatric will make a set
Passenger door frame- there is one on ebay now with a buy it now option. It is the only one I have ever seen come up. Dean Williams is selling it here also; it is the same one as listed on ebay.
Medic seat bottom- never seen one come up for sale
Medic seat- rare only seen a couple in two years
The parts for the M170 are all rare. If you hesitate for a better deal you will end up regretting it. The unique parts are expensive if you can even find them. Trust me I know.
I have a rusty set of the two tool box doors that are in the fenderwells . Not too bad but there are pinholes. _________________ 1955 M170

I think Brent is out of tops last time I spoke with him.
Ajp had 2 nos gas tanks but very proud of them, 650.00 for the dented one, and 750.00 for the nice one |

George knows when he has a rare part. He is where I obtained my upper stretcher rack. It was the last of the extra ones made for Dave at Wee Bee Webbing. My wife slaps me every time I mention stretcher rack. She still misses that baby. _________________ 1955 M170

I have a gallery on this site. I keep a cronological log as I go through it.

I found it in Nov. 2007. Actually started working on it probably Mar 2008.
Army Jeep Parts Gillespi paint. I copied the following from there site:
AJP WWII SEMI-GLOSS, Late 1944 thru 1957
A true O.D., AJP had this color matched from
early NOS parts. Most representative of what a jeep
was painted. This is our most popular color.
Late 44' thru 45' MB's
M38, M38A1, M170, M-37
Plus all Korean equipment
What are you working on? _________________ 1955 M170

I was looking for a decent m170 project, but have not found one. I did locate a decent m38a1, it is rough, but relatively rust free. fenders are no good, but it has a great tub and the powertrain is there.
Also caught up in a job transfer and need to relocate from PA to NC in June 2010. Now might not be the best time to drag this M38A1 to our PA home and then have to drag it to a new NC home.
Anyways - I really like the work you have done on your M170 and it is interesting that you have the paperwork from the gov't.

Thanks for the listings from Energy Suspensions for the anti-sway bar bushings - still good numbers.
Did you have any success identifying a replacement front shock absorber for the M170? _________________ Earnest, M38A1 |
