|
|
This came out of my M38 fuel tank.
Here are fuel filter choices offered by several threads.
Is there a 'best' choice??
* Spray with carb cleaner and use the original ... they last forever.
* Replace the filter with another NOS unit.
* Replace the filter with one of the new stainless units.
Also....
* Did the motorpool folks pull & clean this unit twice a year (or every 5k miles)? That sounds like work.
* How did they clean it ?? What would prompt them to replace it ?
* Best way to refurbish this unit ??
Thanks for any info.

Hey Don,
I believe the orig type like yours can degrade to the point of not being able to clean out. I went with one of the ss ones and like it. If your tank is clean and you utilize the screen at the neck filler you should be golden.
Be absolutely sure your pick-up tube has no pinholes that can/will draw air above the fuel level. _________________ keep 'em rollin'

These were man made materials and they were designed such that you cannot clean them. It is a throw away item.

Looks like this one has another problem.
When I took it apart, well take a look.

The stainless unit sounds good. Thanks. _________________ Don Alvarez
