Don, Yes "No Cigar" your pin is installed backwards. You have several choices:

1-Leave it like it is and each time you need to remove the pin you will first have to remove the bumperette.

2-Drill a hole in the bumperette aligned with the pin head and large enough to slip the pin through.

3-Re-assemble all of it correctly and enjoy the simple life down the road.

To continue my education, why was a clip pin used to secure the rings rather than something more permanent? Were the rings regularly removed? Why would I at times need to remove the rings? Confused

Could be several reasons, like they get bent or they need to be removed so something else could be attached. Even if one were to not use a large clevis pin with a quick release pin one would use common industry sense and install a bolt so the head could be slid out after the nut is undone without creating a need for major surgery.

Two years ago I took apart the headlight assemblies. Time to reattach.

Reinstalling the glass was a PITA. Some shops will only use their own new glass. One guy said he could probably do it but was pessimistic about the results. Finally called Jerry, my mechanic friend. Took a few false starts and about two hours. I brought the paracord and helped keep stuff from slipping back out. Turned out fine. Did the bottom seal today at the barn and zipped it up.

Hi Don,
Looks great!

Maybe it's my imagination or just the angle of the photo, but it looks to me like your driver-side lower door curtain retainer bracket is either upside down or maybe reversed with the passenger-side bracket?
Mine don't sit that high on the body. Pretty sure there's illustrations in the manuals.

I worked on the seats over a year ago using old take off springs and synthetic 'horse hair', looking for a real war jeep ride.







Today I installed the back seat and climbed in... having never sat in a war jeep. OMG. You must actually climb in and climb out. The back seat was ... hmm... interesting. Did GI's really ride back there for miles & miles?

Riding in a jeep, regardless of the seat and comfort, far beats out humping 60-80 #s of kit and crap on your standard issue legs and feet.....

My Dad, a WW2 vet, once told me he saw a GI drop dead on a long march.

He also had stories of deadly military vehicle accidents. With zero safety gear, the old jeeps are just a little less dangerous than a motorcycle.

As an enlightened ‘Son of the South’, I will offer a thought that brother Bubba will support .. most all folks can eat a 20 lb. Dixie Queen watermelon, but it must be done one bite at a time and not in one sitting. Smile
