Good morning,
I believe this is my first posting here. Please correct/forgive if I do this wrong.
Our '52 M38 has 11X2 drums all the way around. I am wondering if it is possible to identify these. The rear seems to have provision for an emergency brake and, since there is currently NO e-brake, I am thinking that I might be able to add them to the rear rather than try to source a center-ebrake.
Pictures below, assuming I can figure that out.

Much easier if you have your photo album here on our web site. So I have opened one for you and added your brake back plate photo to it. Please take a few minutes and carefully read the instructions listed at the beginning of the Board.
Most 11" brake conversions on our older jeeps come from the later CJ5's when they first came out with 11" brakes. 9" brakes were 1945-71. 11" brakes were 1972-78. 10" brakes were 1979 thru at least 1984. Locate on the web and download a copy of a 1971 or later CJ5 manual or Chilton's very popular Jeep CJ 1945-1984 manual.

I've been reviewing manuals but am struggling to ID my backing plates still.
I expect to have the M38 driving again today. Fingers crossed.
Pull one off and visit a big salvage yard and tour their available and exposed axles and vehicles that might be on the list of suitable upgrade choices. _________________ Wes K

I also have a 52M38 with 11" brakes. I used google images and rock auto to figure out what they were off. Turns out they are off a 68 ford F100 or similar.

Attempting to post brake shoe image:
At the moment I have the brake system back together. I rebuilt it with matching parts, but I feel it will need some work yet.
I have to get it moving before I can really test the stopping. So now I am diagnosing a clutch issue. Clutch for seems in full disengaged position, but clutch is not disengaging. My sense is that the clutch fork is broken. So, I am going to have to drop the transmission and work on the clutch. It's a mid-60 GM bellhousing with the 2 5/8" adapter to the T90.
I wish I was driving it, but I am rather enjoying wrenching on it and learning about it!
