I installed an Advance Adapter Overdrive in my 1952 M38. I want to replace the provided knob that threads on the shifter, with the traditional small round Willys transfer case lever shift knob. To do this, I will have to drill a larger hole and tap new threads in the Willys knob. It looks like the thread on the AAOD shifter is 1/2" coarse thread. Has anybody tried this? No idea what kind of metal the knobs are made of, and if they are drillable/tapable? _________________ Adam Jahiel

My knobs are molded plastic with a 5/16-inch threaded metal insert. _________________ Ron D.
