Hi Lyle,
According to Paragraph 1 on page 136 of Appendix II in the AN/GRC- manual --- there's no tech manual for the MT-297 mount.
It may be reasonable to assume that there's also no tech manual for the MT-298 or MT-299 mounts either.
It looks to me like the Signal Corps drawings are needed to identify connectors and their piece parts.
And I've had no joy searching for Signal Corps drawings.
By chance if you actually have these connectors (but need more or replacements), you may be able to give them a close visual inspection with a magnifying glass and see part numbers stamped on them.
The odds are that any part number you find is for that particular piece part of the connector and not the entire connector assembly --- but it would still be a big clue to identifying the connector itself.
Do you have one of these connectors to do a close inspection?
Can you post photos of the connectors you have and need?
Amphenol is a huge manufacturer of military canon plug style connectors (as is Bendix and ITT Canon).
Odds may be good they're still available today.
I've repaired and replaced many of them over a career in the Marine Corps. They can be tricky to identify as well.
If you'll answer the questions (and hopefully post a photo or three) I'd be glad to continue trying to help.
You may have better luck finding a vintage military radio forum on the interweb and searching there.
Good luck! _________________ Ron D.

It will help all in this discusion to IDentify the set exactly and include the exact nomenclature for each set in the group you are using. Here's an example:
Radio set - AN/GRC-7
Radio RT's - VRC-8, 9 or 10.
P/S - R-112
MT-299
Then if possible ID the specific US Army Signal Corp installation drawing you are using. In the above example you would be using drawing # SC-D-75682 or SC-D-75683. If you used drawing SC-D-75682 then the power cord assembly is #13 and uses Drawing # SC-D-28372 for the cable assembly. In that drawing the connector is shown as drwg. reference # SC-D-28372-1 which in the part listing on the this drawing is Part Number 10-42622-2P which is a Bendix-Scintilla part number.
Now if you can provide us the requested data we can probably point you to the correct plug/connector part number.

Wes,
Lyle did (finally) identify his Radio Set ---> AN/GRC-7.
He has the RT-68 and RT-70 Receiver-Transmitters and the R-109 Receiver (because he doesn't have the R-110 Receiver).
So far he hasn't been able to locate the Signal Corps drawings or part numbers for the connectors used on the W-2, W-5, and W-7 cables for the MT-297,MT-298, or MT-299 mounts.
Not in the Radio Set or RT manuals or the Installation Instructions.
And there doesn't appear to be separate tech manuals for the mounts.
Your link "How to find a component part number on a signal corps drawing" isn't working.
<edit> Link works when logged out, but is no help for the specified cable connectors. _________________ Ron D.

I’ve found that the connectors for this era are: M55181/ . The 9 pin male plug I require seem to be M55181/5-3 however I still have no info on how to order male style plug. All the info I have come up with are female. _________________ Lyle

Once again I'm confused by what you say.
Since you correctly identified the part number M55181/5-3 ----- what does "I have no info" mean?
Why not call the vendor?
Pretty sure that any vendor that can identify the female connector could also identify the male connector?
Everything I've found so far seems to indicate that the /5 series of part numbers are no longer made.
I looked at several catalogs, parts lists, and the Mil-Dtl document.
Probably need to search for NOS or serviceable take-off's.
As previously mentioned, have you been able to find a vintage military radio forum on line to pose your search questions?
Good luck! _________________ Ron D.

Once I figured out that there is a second page on this post ……. Aaaaah
Ok, gents so sorry for the confusion.
The MT-298 required the addition of W-2, W-5, and W-7. This is to work with my radio setup
The termination for W-2 and W-5 are a 9-pin circular connector (now I know you guys won’t believe me), but there are no part numbers on the existing connectors, hence my confusion.
I have found (after searching NSN-NOW and a million others) the part number I’ve come up with M55181/5 at least the companies I tried this is an obsolete part.
The W-5 is a 4-pin power cable. It as well has a part number M55181/3 but I don’t know how to differentiate between Male (pins) plug and the female (socket) receptacle.
My workaround was to find a CX-1211/U and cut it apart and use the connectors as they correctly fit. _________________ Lyle

LOL.........glad we're on the same page.
Read the table in this linked slick sheet that describes what the dash numbers mean.
And if you study the Amphenol part numbers carefully (the first "M" or "F" in their part number) you can discern which are male and female.
