Hi Folks,
I wanto to know about VRC 10 on m38a1. In my jeep I have the mt 299 on wood block, I think is a original system acording I have read, but i saw this brackets. I would like to know the expert opinion. Looks a very good solution better than wood bloks.
First let us know which radio set you have in your jeep. If you are not familiar with the set nomenclatures or the Army Signal Corp Drawing sets then just post a photo of the entire set and a closeup of each components ID plate. Since you have a MT-299 mount then it is safe to assume the radio set is installed on the rear fender well left or right side. I have access to many US Army Signal Corp Drawings for many different radio sets. So based on your brief description I can offer up Srawing SC-D-28605 and since I am missing SC-C-28600 MT-299 wood spacer drawing I do have a link to a very good copy of the measurements. https://wilfreeman.wordpress.com/tag/mt-299-mount/
Item 5 is the MT-299 and Item 6 is the wood spacer which there are two of.
Thanks Wesk
In my jeep I have the wood blocks like the figure you uploaded. I only want to know when or where the metal supports that they sell on eBay were used.
thank you greetings

You should use a link to the actual photo to make it simple for folks to see what you are referring to.
You would have to find an old retired Army Signal Corp troop that installed these in the 1950's to find out exactly when the Army switched from the wood blocks to the all metal supports for the MT-299. There is a clue though. The SC-C-28600 drawing for the wood blocks is a 1950-51 dated drawing. The drawing numbers are usually shown on Signal Corps. parts so using the SC-C-48540 in your photo those drawings are dated 1953-55. These dates do not prove when the Signal Corp started using the metal supports only when they were first made available. _________________ Wes K
