Hi all,
I am about to order a Stencil kit from military vehicle stencil co, and I am stumped at the bumper numbers.

I am not military, so please excuse the ignorance, but I have looked at several ordinance records on HOW to mark the front bumper, but I am at a loss as to what regimental/BN number and Company number I should choose.
I have contacted my Brother in law who was a former officer at Fort Bragg and he gave me some info, but I fear it may be a too new unit o make sense for the time period. (Example listed below).

I am looking for a time period correct Reg and company number for a Jeep located at FORT BRAGG, NC. This is where my farmer purchased the vehicle from.

Specifically I was hoping to honor my friends father who was demolition expert when I met them in 1991. I am going to call the US Army Airborne & Special Ops Museum tomorrow but fear it’s just another dead end. Trust me I have googled for over a week now!

So far I have:

Left bumper side: C1-325 AIR
Right side: HQ-3 (Operations)

My friend mentioned he was in B or C company. I guess that would change the right to B - ?

The quickest way is to google for an on line club for the Unit you wish the jeep to represent. Then review their historical photos and find a photo taken during the time period you want your jeep to represent and then copy the markings.

Also at the same time for evidence of correct methods based on your time period and unit you can use AR850-5 with revisions thru 1949 for the 1950's military vehicle markings ( downloadable here: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=204 . and then the best 1960's document is TB 746-93-1 dated Oct 1964 http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=203 . Keep in mind that local units and area commands often published supplements to these regs and TB's to tailor them to their mission and area of assignment.

Like Wes, the best advice I give to guys when trying to help guys with their bumper unit markings when they order kits from me, is to find a unit you want to represent, and then start to google info about the unit. There is usually quite a bit of info out there and then start looking at timelines of when and where units and subunits were stationed. Then start googling the full unit and subs and click on images and start going through them to see if you can find any unit pictures to see if you can see vehicles in the background of pics. Or add "Jeep" and the unit into the search bar and scroll the images. You sometimes can't find any good images, and that just might be that the unit didn't have many vehicles assigned to them.

Another option if you are looking for marking kits, check out my site. http://www.deltateamdecals.com/home.html
