A guy I know is selling a few parts from a 1948 CJ2A. The transfer case seems to be in fine condition. Would it just install as a direct swap in my M38A1? Are there any differences between the 1948 civilian and 1955 military versions? Thanks! _________________ Support our troops, past and present.

Unless you can ascertain by casting dates that the case is a 1948 then it may be any of the various cases used. There were three different main shaft diameters used. The gear ratio count varies between some models and the M series military jeeps D18 had a threaded pivot bolt not smooth pivot pin for the shifter canes. _________________ Wes K
