I have suggestion to vendors reading. Please don't take offense.
I am mostly speaking for myself, but many of us out here are first time restorers, and don't know all the details. I would suggest that if you are selling a part that you know maybe different or may not fit or may be different than what is specified in the parts manual that might give the purchaser a susprise, where he has to make a phone call to find out what is going on. It would just be helpful if he were told up front about such before he bought it.
I however do appreciate you for being there to sell us parts.

After restoring our first jeep ( M38) we learned a lot of things and we changed a lot of details afterwards. After the restoration we know a lot of good parts supliers, at the beginning it is a new world wich opens.
With our ( Jeroen's jeep) new GPW 1942 project we will take more time before starting to make a whole inventory of al the nos parts we bought together with the jeep, and make time to order the things we do not have by contacting different supliers. We do not hurry, we still enjoy our M38.
As they told me before, the first jeep is for learning, the second is for perfect detail restoration. And after that a few years later you can do the first jeep again with the knowledge you now have !

Ken,
I can only assume that this comment is a result of the long thread about the data plate. I can tell you that there are dealers out there that are not concerned about what they make/have made, or sell. The only concern is the $$. As a dealer, I can tell you that I personally do not intentionally send out junk, or compromised items. If an item needs to be tweaked or requires an additional item to make it work, I try to make sure either the customer knows this or I include the item. I can also vouch for several other dealers that have the same philosophy as I. Your comment should read, "price is not everything". The dealers I vouch for as well as myself, are not the cheapest on the market, and we take a rap for that many times. There is a substantial difference in dealer service, knowledge, and quality of material delivered to the end user. The higher level of service and quality of the parts sold will reflect on price, and this should be considered when you, the customers, make the choice to go with the less expensive. Now, this is not true in all cases, but the vast majority of the time, it is.

Dito John, I have delt with John ever since I owened my M38, and he has never let me down. The only dealer that has, is the billing dept. of Beechwood canvas.(Long Story). If John knows the vehicle you have, He'll send you the correct part and tell you what it is, he will even give you advice on installing it. Thanks again John. Frank.
