OK - so i have a question on assembly sequence. I was following TM98015-2 manual. It had me install reverse gear, then cluster gear, then input gear. However, i am not able to get input gear assy into position with the cluster gear assembly in place? Is the manual assembly sequence incorrect? looks like i need to drop the cluster to get the input in?

does it need to be lifted up after main gear cluster is in or can it be lifted up after input shaft gear assembly but before main gear assembly?
The link looks like it may be last which could be very tricky..

All the main shaft and input needs to be in first before you lift the cluster gear with dummy shaft and thrust washers. That includes the oil slinger. When you put the cluster shaft in from the rear, orient the cutout for the locking plate as close as you can, the shaft doesn't turn very easy when it's all the way in. |

Hey Wes - THis worked perfect. One question, how important is it to have the syncro claw springs opposing? I have the trans all back together and i am not 100% sure i have the syncro springs opposite..oh boy.. _________________ Brian

Do you have the tranny mounted back up the tcase and sealed up?
It's really not too hard to pull the output shaft/synchro assembly back out. _________________ Brett

no it is not sealed up yet..
doesn't the cluster gear need to be dropped to bottom of trans to remove, so its like starting over.. _________________ Brian

No, you can fish the output shaft out the back end. Its makes it easier to move the 2/3 shift collar fore or aft (i cant remember which way). But it will come out. The roller bearings in the input shaft may fall out but you can do it carefully to avoid this, I'm sure you are familiar with them. _________________ Brett

Hello Bretto: Your suggestion worked perfect. It turned out that the synchro springs were not opposing, so turned the forward one around. Thanks again and your tip to move 1st/second gear slider forward was perfect.
Wes - also thanks for the link.
Now i need to reassemble the transmission top plate or shifter control. Any tips is greatly appreciated.
