Hello Wes,
I'm glad the engine pictures finally found their way. Thank you for transferring them.
The question remains would you know exactly what type of engine this is? What would the main differences be as compared to the ww2 engines?
That is probably the latest L134 block produced by Willys and Kaiser. It was produced from the late 50's thru the 70's. There are many differences from the WWII 632638 blocks.
WWII cam was chain driven.
All post WWII blocks cam is gear driven.
WWII had timing marks and access for them on the flywheel
908756 blocks have no provision for flywheel access & marks on the crank pulley and timing cover.
WWII Block had 4 freeze plugs on the right side
908756 has two.
WWII Blocks have four 3/8" bolt holes on the rear flange for the bell housing and adapter plate.
908756 has a reinforced and larger rear flange with the four 3/8" holes plus three more 5/16" holes on each side.
WWII blocks have the serial flat on the right upper side behind the oil filter.
908756 blocks have no flat there and use the larger flat on the front edge of the block above the water pump.
WWII blocks use oil filter return oil to lube front cam chain drive.
908756 block has an oil squirt nozzle at the very front of the right oil gallery which sprays oil on the timing gears.
WWII blocks have a freeze plug on the back up near the gas pedal linkage bracket.
908756 does not. _________________ Wes K
