Thanks for the tip again. I will test the battery in the morning.I like the idea of a disconnect switch. Can you tell me how to install one? Is it placed in line on the battery cable or placed oin line on the inigition switch?

The battery cable is interrupted by the disconnect switch.

Installing a disconnect at the ignition switch will only shut off a few circuits.

They can be had as a keyed or unkeyed unit. They can be had as remote installed or installed directly on the battery terminal.

Most folks use the remote, keyed type and install it under the dash near the cowl battery box.

I prefer not to interrupt the positive cable because you end up with an extra section of positive cable that can be a source of shorts. I prefer to interrupt the negative cable because any extra cabling will not generate shorts or sparks if bumped with something metal. You can rmote mount a key type disconnect switch in the right side of the grill guard behind the grill bars and run the ground cable from the front battery on the M38 to the disconnect switch and from the disconnect switch to the original ground connection on the battery tray support. On the M38A1 and the M170 you can mount the remote key type switch near the cowl battery box and run the negative/ground cable to the switch and then a new ground cable from the switch to the original ground location on the right frame.
