I need to ship a jeep seat from Nevada to Florida and the usual shipping services either won't do it or want a King's ransom. Does anyone know of a company that will ship something that large at anything even approximating reasonable rate?

Joe,
Assuming you know the consignee and can agree on the
method....
Cut the frame tubing between the bottom and the back where
the tubing is straight for a decent length, ie., before it bends
upwards. This will reduce the overall bulk size.
When received, the two parts can be put back together
by inserting smaller tubing inside and overlapping
the joint, and welding back together.
I had heard that bus lines would ship dropped freight
to the nearest bus station where the part is headed.
We used that method for overnight transport of parts
between Rock Springs and Evanston, Wyoming in the 70's
It was cheaper than sending an employee there and back
on overtime.
There were size and weight limitations but if you think of
the size of the baggage areas on buses most of what we deal
with will fit. You can try shipping the frame whole but I believe
there is a size as well as weight effect on the price.
