I used a zip tie to secure the rod to the top bow. _________________ 1951 M38

On the M-38 the top rails are supposed to have holes and pins riveted to them to hold the top rails into the Windshield frame and Top Bow...
SNL 740; Page 327
P/N 7375324
CHAIN, w/RING and retaining PIN, assy (top rail)....
Composed of:
2 CHAIN
2 PIN
4 RING
This is also supported by this page from WeeBee Webbings website: http://odcloth.com/rodwork.html
Hope this helps... _________________ Hal, KB1ZQ

early top bows did not use two chains per rod per 1951 ORD 9. hole in top bow was not drilled through... dont think I've ever seen one that was drilled through . _________________ '51 M38 #22936,

SNL dated 1955 is where I got my part numbers from, possibly a change to keep the tops on better...
I have drilled mine and put drive rivets in them to hold the chains on and have no problems with rod coming out. Was a good mod IMO... _________________ Hal, KB1ZQ
