So as I continue to work on the re-restoration on my 53' M38a1, I want it to represent one of the ones my father drove in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was stationed just above Key West on Sugarloaf Key with the 313th ASA (Army Security Agency) in which they monitored Cuban radar and radio intercepts. They mainly operated out of M37's with Comm boxes and M109's but had a plethora of M38a1 for running back and forth from the sites where the trucks were set up, along with weekly courier runs to the nearest base in Homestead Florida. Of the interesting markings on them, is the orange lightning bolt on the rear corners along with the center of the front bumper are ones that I plan on reproducing on mine. Also of note was that they covered over all the unit markings so that the Cubans didn't know what unit they were from. But I do plan on showing the full marking on mine so that people can see what unit it represents.

Thanks Dave, Great photos. Can you post a few of your A1? Or a link to your album.

Here are a few from before the re-restoration. I know it doesn't look like it needs it, but there were several small things incorrect on it that I wanted to fix up.

All six are mine. I've done the restorations on all of them except the M38a1 which is why I want to re-restore it and bring it up to my standards.

Left to right 53' M38a1, 53' M37, 67' M35a2, 67' M725 x2 and 67' M715
The M715 won gold at the MVPA Nationals in 2011
