I went to start my A1 the other day and the starter is dead no noise as if it wasnt getting any energy, batteries on a Trickle Charger and at 26.3 Volts at the Starter Switch terminals, I took the switch apart and cleaned up the contacts that didnt help same result no noise, so what Iam asking is could the Starter Switch be bad and need to be replaced or is the internals of the starter the problem and how to trouble shoot it... Thanks for any help in advance, Scott

Start with a volt meter and check voltage on both sides of the switch on top of the starter with the foot start pedal depressed fully. If same voltage both terminals the problem is in the starter.

Be sure to use the correct TM for your starter which will have a good troubleshooting section you should be following:

For the Autolite/Prestolite starters

For the Delco Starters

For the late MCZ4001 starter
