on picture 36 and others, whats the deal on the L shaped hood blocks?

I have a few picture with these shown mostly from europe

I believe it was the result of moving the wipers to the top of the windshield for the heater install. It was either move the blocks the same distance as their original bolt spacing or notch them.

other pics like 10 have the wipers on the bottom still but, that makes sense.

The original hot water heater kit installation instructions said to move the two hood blocks 2" outward. But then it is mentioned that the hood cold weather blanket has the block holes in the original position so my guess is the motor pool guys "adapted, improvised and overcame" Wink

Great photos. I want one of those 50's era garrison caps. I'm a 60's era vet and have the green one. But I want to dress the period in my M38 when wearing kakhi's. Let me know if anyone can steer me to one.
