|
|
Am trying to put my new exhaust system on my M38. I purchased a complete system, but was told I would have to heat and bend the intermediate pipe a little. My question for now is where does the rear hanger bolt attach. I am not finding any holes in the frame. I would also like to be able to install the fording tailpipe on occasion. The manuals are not to clear on exhaust systems. There was an article in the MVM, but of course ,now I can't find it. Anyway any help would be appreciated.
Thanks DJ |

Found the topic on the "G", answered most questions. One question, are the hangers the same? I have one that looks like the pic of Ryan's exhaust(Thanks Wes) and one that does not have the L hook. Is this the one for the rear at the bumper? Or should they both have the L shape?
Thanks DJ
Your'e right Wes ,a picture was worth a thousand words. Thanks again |

DJ,
There are 2 different hangers, the one for the intermediate pipe is about 6" long and holds the pipe and front of the muffler up. The second looks like a wire clamp and brings the output pipe of the muffler up next to the rear bumper.
The bending of the intermediate pipe was done as some of the initial repro pipes were incorrectly bent and thus the muffler hung to low to the ground and you would never getthe fording pipe on...
Hope this helps... I have pitures but need to find them... been a while...
Editied: fouind them in my gallery:

Hey,
The intermediate pipe and the 3 hole triangular bracket on the end of the exhaust muffler pipe where the "Snorter" (fording exhaust extension pipe) hooks up always need a little "adjustment".
I have been told by some older gentlemen that were in the business for 50 years that even the NOS pipes needed these "adjustments". _________________ Ryan Miller
