My engine is finally in the hands of the gods of the auto mechanics.......the machine shop. Go figure........the shop I had been dealing with is now swamped with racing engines due to new lax standards for racing machinery that now allows more use of the lower end equipment meaning everybody can get into racing now. Long story short......since I didn't want to wait until the end of the summer to get my engine back I went with my second choice shop. Fortunately I was even more impressed with them this time then when I first talked to them now that I got to deal directly with the machinist who will be doing the work. His experience level with this "old" engine seems to be even better then my first choice shop. Anyway.......he's promised me a thorough analysis of my block and components by Friday.......so wish me luck. One nice thing......this shop is only blocks away from my office in town so, even though he doesn't know it yet, me and the machinist may get to be really good buddies! For now though its on to the transmission and transfer case.

I know how you feel I am getting ready to pull my engine this spring and am looking for a machine shop in my area. I could get lucky and not need much but who knows till you take everything apart. I know a guy that he and his dad owned a machine shop. It has since gone out of business but he still does work on the side. He is very good at what he does but it is a bit of a drive to get the stuff to him. So I am also looking at other places close to my house.
