hello people
i've got a prob with my fully restored m38a1
It starts and runs very nicely
but when idle after 1 minute black smoke came out from the exhaust pipe and the jeep idle goes down, and i've got to pull the throttle manually to keep the engine running, after few seconds the idle goes up and the engine sound is not clear and smooth. It pops, and black smoke comes out..
any ideas?
I have just checked the pump diagram and carburettor diagram but they are ok
I also reconditioned the autolite distributor...
please help me
gian

Which fuel pump, and carb are you using? What is their status, IE just rebuilt, used or new. What have you worked on, adjusted or changed recently? Have you checked the running fuel pressure with a gauge yet?
