Thanks guys, I think I will order from Rapco unless there is a problem shipping north of the border.
This will be less expensive than me taking the code and getting a gallon mixed here.

Are you going back with a USAF jeep???
Reason I ask is that the RCAF color is different...
I have a photo of a RCAF M-38 in my gallery and the color is way lighter...
I ask as I spent 18 months trying to find the right color only to get it 3 weeks after painting with Strata Blue and was not about to repaint after rebuild...
There was a gent in BC that had the PPG Code for it... worked at the Comarco RCAF Museum in BC...
Hope this helps... |

Interesting!
Decisions, decisions, now you have me thinking and that is not my strong suit.
I was just going to go with RCAF and be done with it as that is the data tags I have for the jeep and there is a CAR number stamped into the front frame horn. This jeep will also have the axle convoy light along with one on the M100 trailer to match.
I did not know that Canada had their own Air Force blue different than the US.
However I could go USAF as I do have the correct numbers taken from the hood and another set taken from the Arctic Top. I will ponder this for a bit and then make a decision. I am not really looking to buy a set of US data tags to correct this one and I don’t really want to weld up or fill the CAR number stamped into the frame. That and with the axle convoy lights it will definitely not be even close to correct.
This is getting too difficult; I may just stay with OD and call it a day! |

In so far as you have a CAR number and M-38CDN data plates makes it a M-38CDN... However you can paint it anyway you want... Just keep the data plates and CAR Number intact...
I see you are from Nova Scotia... we lets say you go with Strata Blue with USAF markings... no problem, the Canadians loaned one of the ir M-38CDNs to the USAF and they forgot to give it back...
Or if you want to do RCAF; then find the correct paint and go that route...
Keep in mind the jeep was built as a M-38CDN and could have gone many directions in its military life...
When I next redo my M-38CDN i will go with the RCAF blue and go that route... as it is I may repaint the markings I have and redo the CAR # 52-31313 as a USAF Reg number 52K31313 in Insignia Yellow... My M-38CDN is Strata Blue...
Please do not destroy the original markings makig it something it is not; just paint it and mark iit the way you want to display it... |

I had a buddy that had a "71 Dodge Super Bee. It was a monster
muscle car. In '71 the fed mandated side marker lites came out,
no one liked them because they spoiled the lines. Well during
resto my buddy did a sweet job of removing and filling the areas.
He ended up selling for THOUSANDS less because of it-no longer
original.. good advice Hal.. _________________ keep 'em rollin'

Here are the two different numbers found on the M38
On the Arctic Top.
And the hood.
Just to clarify things a bit, the tub and engine are from a US M38, the frame and data tags are from a M38CDN.
I guess I will be restoring this thing as a early M38CDN with US M38 paint and markings. |

Here is the paint code for the RCAF as supplied to me from Rob Roy of the CFB Comox Air Force museum.
"I had the paint scanned at the Home depot. They said it might be too glossy to get a good match. We did two one from the machine and one from eye with colour chits."
