Does any one know what the dimensions are of the 2 pieces of angle iron that mount the winch frame to the Jeep frame?

I don't have the numbers handy but it fills the space between the front crossmember and the back edge of the bumper and is the same dimensional angle as the two end angles in the welded the frame assembly which is 2". The length would be 9" to 9 1/4".

Just a F.Y.I.: I have a different dimension between the angle on the end of the welded frame and the angle that bolts to the inside of the Jeep frame that the welded frame bolts to.
They are both 2"X2" angle but they are not the same thickness.
My dimensions are taken from an original Ramsey winch frame that was on a M38 that I restored for a customer.
I used his frame to create a drawing in AutoCAD to fabricate winch frames that I have sold over the years.
Another note the front piece of the welded frame is the same 2"X2"X1/4" "T" stock that is used in the M31C gun pedestal. On the pedestal mount, one leg of the "T" stock is cut down to 3/4". _________________ 1952 M38CDN (in progress)

Interesting. I went and bought some 2x2 angle to make the mounts that the winch frame bolts to. What thickness is the piece that the winch frame bolts to on your original? I think the 2x2 angle iron I bought was 1/8 inch. _________________ Bill

Pat,
What dimension do you have for the two angles? (end angle on winch frame vs angle that bolts to chassis.) _________________ Wes K

Well since we can't seem to get a dimension for the piece of angle used between the winch frame and the chassis frame rail perhaps someone can confirm my suspicion that since the end pieces of the winch frame are called out in the Willys blueprint for that application as 2" angle 1/4" thick it must stand to reason that the two pieces of angle used to mate the winch frame to the chassis will also be 2" angle 1/4" thick.
Does Rod or anyone with an installed M38 winch have the dimension on hand for those two pieces of angle in the photo above?
This is the Willys blue print for the winch frame which anyone can download and use for fabrication purposes.

Wes,
I get a "Not found" error when I click on your link to the full size blueprint. _________________ Jim McKim

Wes,
Thanks for the picture. Is that the bracket that bolts to the winch frame and Jeep frame? If so I do not see the other set of holes that would be there to bolt to the Jeep frame. _________________ Bill

The holes are there. It's that crappy Brown paint that makes things so dark they are hard to see. They are each about 1/2" inboard of the gussets.
Here I have lightened up the dark brown and you can see the holes better now.
The brackets labeled "L" & "H" in this illustration are the brackets in the photos above. _________________ Wes K

Thank you Wes. Just one more thing. Does it appear to you that the left bracket appears to be about 1cm shorter than the right? The right appears to be 25cm,(0-25 in picture) probably 9.75 inches whereas the left one appears to be 24cm, (26-50 in picture) maybe 9.5 inches. _________________ Bill

I believe they are both the same length. The camera angle is the culprit.
The weld nut spacing is from the winch frame blueprint. The chassis attach holes I measured on the chassis of my M38. _________________ Wes K
